WA:Corrupt contractor jailed for 18 months
A contractor who paid more than 130-thousand-dollars to a former council building coordinator
has been jailed for 18 months after pleading guilty to a corruption charge.
61-year-old MICHAEL LEWIS CARROLL was sentenced in the Perth District Court following
a Corruption and Crime Commission investigation.
CARROLL had received 1.4 million dollars in contracts for maintenance work from the
City of Stirling, some of which were real and others fake.
Judge SIMON STONE has told the court the offences, which were committed over a four-year
period, were too serious for a suspended sentence.
CARROLL will be eligible for parole in nine months.
