Fed: Ansett boss says CASA meeting was amicable

Ansett chief Executive GARY TOOMEY is describing his meeting with the head of the Civil
Aviation Safety Authority as amicable and productive.

Mr TOOMEY and CASA's MICK TOLLER have talked about the troubles facing the embattled
airline for about 20 minutes today in Canberra.

Ansett wants CASA to allow its fleet of Boeing 767 aircraft back into the air, after
they were grounded due to safety concerns last Thursday.

CASA has given Ansett three weeks to prove its maintenance systems are up to standard,
or the airline faces losing its license to operate.

Mr TOOMEY won't comment on the details of the talks.
