Travel Business Review - 18 July 2011

Gogo Inflight Internet, an in-flight broadband internet service offered by US-based company, Aircell, has announced a new, in-air, multimedia platform for airline passengers.

The new platform will be offering airline passengers access to online services such as real-time travel information, content on destinations, news and information, as well as shopping offers and social network integration. The passengers will be able to access the new platform through their own Web-enabled device on aircraft equipped with the Gogo Wi-Fi internet service.

Ash ElDifrawi, the executive vice president and chief marketing officer of Gogo Inflight Internet, said, 'This is the convergence of in-flight connectivity and entertainment. When we first started offering Wi-Fi connectivity, it became clear to us that we could offer travellers so much more to enhance their travel experience. Today, travellers depend on Gogo to keep them connected in air and, while connectivity remains at the heart of our business, we are thrilled to offer travellers this new form of entertainment at 30,000 ft.'
